I Own Nothing - Missing The Wrath

I Own Nothing - Missing The Wrath
A self made album cover. Wood burning and filters.

TL;DR - I released a song. Here it is. It's metal.

For those who want a little more background...

Quick story: I've been recording music for years. I am sort of ADHD, and also sort of a perfectionist. So... well I've never released anything ever. If you've not discovered by reading any of my other articles, there's two things I really love; Jesus and metal music. So if you click on that, you'll hear a song inspired by God and his Son's sacrifice.

This is actually... a big moment, though by other circumstances, it doesn't feel that way. I've got a massive back catalog of music on my computer, yet I've never pulled the trigger on anything. My therapist however, challenged me to release a song last week... so I did. It's not that I don't love that I did this, I do, however let's just say I am battling some other things that are killing my soul.

So this song... is somewhere between 2-3 years old. I didn't understand proper levels when recording, pretty sure the guitar is a little out of tune, and it was one of my first attempts at real mixing. I probably could've restarted the mix and done it better... but that wasn't the point. The point was to release music.

The song itself is actually quite different from my typical writing style... so it's strange that it's my first release, but it was literally the closest thing I had to... fully complete. Gotta start somewhere I guess! I typically write moodier stuff, a little more crazy cords and longer tunes, but this is just 4 minutes of simple riffage, simple drumming, simple bassline, and vocals and lyrics pretty quickly with little review.

The song's lyrics are basically describing struggles, and overcoming those struggles by following the light of God. The chorus itself where I note that nails on the cross gave no craps about suffering, they inflicted it. On the cross, Jesus suffered greatly, and we all deserve it, we all should pay that price... but because I believe, I am missing God's wrath (tee-hee, song title).

Anyway, hopefully you'll click, have a listen, enjoy it if you can! If you do, thanks!
